Working alongside NIAS
Working alongside NIAS
Annually in Northern Ireland, there are approximately 1,600 Out-of-Hospital cardiac arrests. Sadly, less than 1 in 10 people survive such an event …
Due to Northern Ireland’s rural geography, ambulance response times can be longer than desired. Consequently, there is an increasing need for local responders to assist in providing early assessments/intervention until advanced medical staff arrive. To achieve this, NIAS works in partnership with groups throughout Northern Ireland – including the Mid Down & Lisburn CFRs.
In August 2022, we received our charity status through the Northern Ireland Charity Commission, with our first group of responders going live in November 2022. Being local in the community, a CFR could be on scene within minutes and make a real difference before the ambulance arrives. Working alongside NIAS, this commitment ensures that our CFRs will have continued support and training.
