Restart A Heart: 2022

Annually in Northern Ireland, there are approximately 1,600 Out-of-Hospital cardiac arrests. Sadly, less than 1 in 10 people survive such an event due to lack of/late intervention.

Did you know, around 80% of Out-of-Hospital cardiac arrests occur at home? This could be a parent, a sibling or even a friend.

So, to support our community, we wanted to help improve those statistics. That’s why we took part in ‘Restart a Heart Day’ on the 15th & 16th October in the Bow Street Mall, Lisburn.

In as little as 15minutes, members of the public were given FREE instruction on how to deliver CPR, giving them the skills and confidence required that may one day save a life. Over the weekend, Mid Down & Lisburn CFRs trained over 150 people!

We would like to say THANK YOU to all the community that showed their support in turning up, interested in learning new skills and even donating to our cause. Not only this, this opportunity was made possible by the genorisity of the Bow Street Mall and their management team, of which we are extremely grateful.

Finally, this weekend gave us the opportunity to speak directly with you: our community. It enabled us to answer any questions,  demonstrate some equipment we use and raised awareness of what our volunteers will be offering Lisburn and its neighbouring areas. Our service will be going live in November 2022, so you may see a familiar face in your area soon!

If you happen to see us, please feel free to chat to us – we’ll be more than happy to answer any queries you may have, or even just to say hello!

We may be a colleague, neighbour or a friend – regardless, each and every time, we’re here for you!

Best wishes,
